A
ticket booth that was a long-standing symbol of the Jefferson County
Fair is now owned by the 4 River Valleys Historical Society. The
Watertown City Council sold the building to the 4RVHS in June 1999.
The structure has stood on
the fairgrounds since 1853 and is now used by the 4RVHS for exhibits
during the annual Jefferson County Fair. It is the building that
many associate with the county fair with the longest unbroken annual
run in the country.
The Society has experience
in preserving structures, and, now that they own the ticket booth, it
is being kept in a historical context.
